Help a Muslim Woman After a Hate Crime Attack in NYC
Donation protected
On the early morning of June 18, my mother, a 55-year-old Muslim woman, was brutally attacked on her way to work on the E Train in NYC. She was simply trying to earn a living for herself and her two dependents when a man approached her, demanded to know if she was Muslim, and then—after she quietly responded “yes”—he savagely beat her without warning.
He broke her nose, gave her a concussion, and left her in physical and emotional agony. The train stopped, and he fled the scene, even attempting to change his appearance—but thanks to bystanders and police, he is now in custody.
But justice doesn’t erase trauma—or cover medical bills.
Why We’re Asking for Help
My mother has no health insurance due to having a new job recently. The cost of emergency care, specialist visits, medications, and imaging scans is already overwhelming. But what’s worse is that the concussion symptoms are ongoing, making it impossible for her to return to work right now. She is unable to support herself or her dependents and is now struggling to pay her rent, utilities, and basic living expenses.
We are fundraising to help cover:
Uninsured medical expenses
Rent and utilities
Basic groceries and essentials
Mental health support
Long-term recovery costs
Who She Is
My mom is one of the strongest women I know. She is gentle, kind, spiritual, and faithful. She has spent her life working quietly, caring for others, and trying to make ends meet, more so after the death of her husband, my father, 2.5 years ago. She didn’t deserve this.
No one does.
This wasn’t just an assault. It was a HATE CRIME, and it happened because she chose to be visibly Muslim in public. The emotional pain this has caused goes far beyond the bruises and swelling.
How You Can Help
We are asking, with open hearts, for any support you can offer—whether it’s $5, $50, or simply sharing this campaign with your community.
Your donation will help her heal in peace—without the crushing weight of financial stress—and remind her that compassion and unity are stronger than hate.
From the bottom of our hearts: thank you for standing with us.
