Help a Mother Rebuild After Surviving Violence, War, and Loss
Life can change in an instant. For one devoted mother, the past two years have been marked by fear, instability, and unimaginable hardship — yet she continues to fight for safety, dignity, and a fresh start for herself and her son.

She began her marriage in Israel in early 2023 with hope for a loving and stable future. But following the events of October 7, everything changed. Her husband’s mental health deteriorated significantly, and despite her pleas, he refused to seek meaningful treatment. What began as concern quickly turned into fear for her safety and that of her teenage son.

In an effort to stabilize the situation, she relocated with her husband to the United States, hoping his family would provide support. Instead, she was left to manage an increasingly volatile situation alone — without financial help, without health insurance, and without access to proper mental health care for her husband.

Within just over a year of marriage, the situation escalated to violence. In 2024, shortly before Pesach, her husband attempted to take her life. Thanks to the intervention of witnesses, she survived. A protection order was issued to safeguard her and her son, who thankfully did not witness the attack.

But even after escaping the marriage, the challenges did not end.

Because the marriage remained legally recognized in Israel, she faced ongoing financial and legal consequences. Despite receiving no support from her husband, government agencies treated her as if she had access to shared income. Her tax refunds were garnished. Her bank account was impacted. Critical benefits were denied — all because she could not yet afford to finalize a legal divorce overseas.

After two years of struggle, she finally raised enough funds to travel back to Israel and pursue the divorce. What should have taken weeks turned into months of waiting due to regional conflict and court closures. Finally, as of April 20, 2026, she has secured her legal divorce — a long-awaited step toward freedom.

But just as one chapter closed, another hardship struck.

During Pesach, her son’s yeshiva caught fire. While, thankfully, all the students were saved, nearly all of her son’s belongings were destroyed. The funds she had hoped to use to return home were instead spent replacing his basic necessities.

Now, she and her son are stranded, emotionally exhausted, and financially depleted.
