My friend’s aunt is a mother of three children, aged 17, 8 and just 4 years old. She lives with her family in Bangladesh and urgently needs medical treatment for a serious heart condition that her family simply cannot afford.

Around four years ago, doctors diagnosed her with a hole in her heart. Since then, her family have been told that the hole has increased in size and that one of her heart valves is also not functioning properly.

Her health has deteriorated, and she has experienced frightening episodes of severe breathing difficulties and problems receiving enough oxygen.

Unfortunately, this is not the first serious health challenge she has faced. She has previously undergone three surgeries relating to gland problems and a tumour. Years of medical expenses, appointments and treatment have placed an enormous financial burden on a family that was already struggling with poverty.

Her husband previously worked in Dubai but was forced to return to Bangladesh and now has very little income. The family does not own land or have any significant assets that they can sell to pay for her treatment. Due to their financial circumstances, they are also eligible to receive Zakat.

For many years, her sister helped financially with medical appointments, surgeries and other essential expenses. Tragically, her sister has since been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, which has spread to her lungs. After almost a year of cancer treatment and with no income of her own, she is no longer able to provide the same financial support.

Despite everything this family has endured, they are desperately trying to find a way to fund the heart treatment that this mother urgently needs.

All money raised will go towards her medical appointments, investigations, hospital fees, surgery and other essential costs directly related to her treatment.
