I still don’t know what to say or how to put it into words, so I'll just go for it!
I’ve been very sick for some time now. My doctor did testing, and my white blood count was abnormally high. My lymph nodes were also abnormal. I had all the signs leading to cancer. Test after test, we ruled out a lot of them, and then I started having issues with my mouth. A hole developed in the roof of my mouth. It completely ate my uvula and started eating the back of my throat where it meets the nasal cavity. I have a hard time talking. I have no tone to my voice, so I talk like I'm deaf, but I'm not. I was told by two doctors they’re 99.9% sure that’s where the cancer is, so they want me to see an oral specialist who specializes in oral cancer in Utah. I am very limited on what I can eat. It will either go in the hole and build up on top of the roof of my mouth, my nasal cavity, and ear canals, and if it misses the hole because I have no uvula, it will go up into the back of my nasal cavities and get stuck in my throat in that area, causing it to still build up on top of the roof of my mouth! Eating and sleeping is pretty much non-existent. If it’s not the pain, it’s because I have food stuck, which makes the pain that much worse! If I drink fluid, I have to tip my head back; otherwise, it goes into the hole and out my nose. I can only eat things soft and big enough for me to swallow, which I have to do very carefully so it doesn’t get stuck and I don’t choke. I don’t go out much anymore. I’ve lost a lot of weight, and I’m pretty much skin and bones. I went from 145 to 112, size 11 pants to a size 2. I’ve let it go on so my daughter could have her surgery. We are financially drowning because my doctor is cash pay only, plus day-to-day bills, and if it wasn’t for the community, Serenity wouldn’t have had her surgery! I can slowly feel myself going, and I know that’s scary for my family, but I have way more bad than good days. Those around know! I go to Utah Friday and hopefully have more answers, but until then, this is what I got.
