My 67 year old mother, Mindy, grandmother to my 6.5 year old daughter, Adyson and my 8 year old niece, CeCe, mother to my brother Adam and I, was recently diagnosed with HER2 breast cancer. She underwent a lumpectomy and more was found and she will need another surgery, possibly a total mastectomy, but we will not know until September.
She was finally given a diagnosis of Stage 2 Grade 3 Adenocarcinoma Infiltrating Ductal Type with A Skip Pattern of Invasion. This means it randomly appears in certain areas, not just one area, basically when it wants to. We were told after a years worth of intensive chemotherapy, and then another year of hercepton chemotherapy, she will have to undergo surgery again, more than likely a mastectomy due to the margins of what was removed last week, being malignant, along with the continuation of chemo for the Her2.
She has worked her entire life at a wonderful company. However, after the first surgery (lumpectomy,) she was off for two (2) weeks. Her short term disability only covered the cost of her health insurance premium.
We just received the first bill for her initial chemotherapy treatment and it is over $101,000.00. She is unable to work the first two (2) weeks after her chemotherapy treatment (which is every 21 days,) and can barely get to work the third week before her next treatment.
Unfortunately she is losing all of her hair as well and has gone from 110 pounds to barely weighing 100 pounds.
I am currently in school, working part time, but that is not going to pay all the bills.
Momma only has short term disability at present, which I stated above, will pay for her health insurance. She has co-pays along with whatever doctor bills are due after insurance has paid, until her deductible is met, which is $6,000. She has to pay $50 or more depending on the treatment/procedure, per doctor visit, which includes the chemotherapy visits (and as I noted above are outrageous.)
Anything, ANYTHING would help.
I am so embarrassed to even be asking.
If you aren't able to donate, please pray for my momma. She has a long hard road ahead of her.
May God Bless you all.
