Help a Mother and Her Legally Blind Son After Hit-and-Run

On December 27, 2025, at approximately 1:30 PM, my mother and brother were driving home on I-20 West when a white sedan with dealer tags began driving aggressively. The driver lost control, struck the front wheel of my mother’s Kia Soul, and sent them into a concrete wall at nearly 60 MPH. The driver never stopped and fled the scene.

Thankfully, a motorist behind them captured the entire incident on a dash cam and immediately stopped to help. By the grace of God, my mother and brother survived. They walked away with severe bruising and pain, but no life-threatening injuries. Unfortunately, the car was completely totaled.

To some, a car is just a replaceable object. To my mother, it represents over 20 years of dedication to her job at a pharmacy and her ability to provide for her family. She is the sole caregiver for my brother, who is legally blind—completely blind in one eye and with limited vision in the other. Reliable transportation isn’t a convenience for them; it’s a necessity.

While insurance will provide compensation for the vehicle, it was a 2017 model, and the payout will likely fall far short of what’s needed for a reliable replacement or an affordable monthly payment. Replacing the car on her own simply isn’t something she can manage financially.

I’m asking our community for help during this incredibly difficult time. Any contribution, no matter the amount, would mean the world to us and help ensure my mother and brother can get back on the road safely. Thank you for your kindness, support, and prayers.
