> My name is Suzan Ghassan Mahmoud Salim, I am 31 years old.
I got married at a young age and took on the responsibility of raising four children.
We used to live in a safe, clean, and new home — a place full of warmth and hope — I hadn’t even finished paying for it yet.
Then came the 2023 war, suddenly… it destroyed everything — the green and the dry alike.
I lost my husband, and my home was destroyed .
When the sudden evacuation order came, I had no time to take anything.
I fled with my children, trying to escape death and occupation.
That night, I was completely alone with my kids. I didn’t know where to go.
I spread my jacket on the cold ground, and my children slept on it.
Their little bodies turned blue from the freezing cold.
We had no blankets, no house to protect us, no place to shelter in.
My heart broke as I held them close, trying to warm them with my own body.
That feeling was like dying while still alive.
I tasted the pain of death many times that night.
Bombs were exploding around us, rockets were falling, and the sounds of gunfire and shelling filled the air.
The fear, the pain, and the terror were beyond words.
I counted the seconds until sunrise — every minute felt like a century of exhaustion and fear.
When the sun finally rose, my children and I gathered some torn bags and old fabric to build a small tent to protect ourselves and survive.
Later, we found a local kitchen run by international organizations, but the food was never enough.
I would give my share to my children so they could eat as much as possible.
Then came the famine.
We ate only to stay alive — a spoonful or two, and sometimes just water and salt.
I looked at my children and cried in pain, because I couldn’t give them what they needed.
Their clothes were worn out and thin, not enough to keep them warm.
They suffered from skin diseases caused by the cold and the harsh living conditions.
I am not asking for much.
I only want a safe home and a stable life for my children — a chance to see them grow up in safety and peace.
Please, help me.
Help me give my children a life worth living.
Your kindness can.
