May 2021 my family was hit with a devastating blow and we need your help. My mother, a selfless giver, was diagnosed with HER II breast cancer. I immediately moved her from Seattle back to Los Angeles so she can have support while getting care. Three weeks later, she received a second cancer diagnosis, Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). That’s two diagnosis within 3 weeks.

At this point we were trying to wrap our heads around what everything means and what we needed to do for the journey ahead. As we tried to manage emotions and prepare for a new normal, she was hospitalized multiple times. Our world was spinning off its axis. When we began to learn a flow between all of the chemo therapy and blood transfusion schedules we were hit with a traumatic hospitalization. This admission, she suffered severe angiodema and was in an induced coma for 5 days. We knew it would be a challenging recovery as we headed home. Shortly after we went home, mom suffered a stroke. This hospitalization stay was for 29 days!! A long 29 days. The doctors didn't think she would survive the hospital, but she is a resilient. A fighter and warrior! She has lost 61 lbs in the last 6 months and is now vision impaired.

The past 7 months have been difficult. I have been managing everything alone. EVERYTHING! Bathing, feeding, getting dressed, cooking, cleaning, all doctor's appointments. We are at the doctor office and clinic 5 days a week. Sometimes on Sundays. I have not been able to work because taking care of my mother is a full-time responsibility. We are asking for your support. Your support will help us pay for a skilled caregiver, medical expenses, living expenses.
