Help a Mom Rebuild After Abuse and Illness
Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and kind hearted strangers,
I am reaching out on behalf of a dear friend who is enduring one of the most difficult times of her life. After 12 years in an emotionally, verbally and financially abusive marriage, she found the strength to fight for a safer, more stable life. But her journey has been anything but easy.
since her separation from her estranged husband, in an effort to punish and control her further, has cut her off from all finances. He refuses to provide even the most basic necessities- food for herself and her dependent disabled daughter who lives in the home with them, cat litter and food, dog food, chicken feed, and even toilet paper. He refused to cover her on his medical insurance during the marriage and since the separation also ceased providing any financial support for her out of pocket costs to see a doctor for her various medical issues, including diabetes; he has also refused to contribute funds to fill her prescription for her life saving insulin which sh has been forced to go without for 6 They are barely surviving on the generosity of neighbors and friends, and that generosity, while heartwarming, can only go so far.
Adding to the strain are her serious health challenges. After surviving a life threatening case of Covid-19, during which she was on life support and not expected to survive, she now lives with the afermath: emphysema, congestive heart failure, severe sleep apnea. She requires oxygen regularly, especially when under stress or exertion. On top of this, she battles congenital conditions such as degenerative arthritis, spinal disc disease, and urgently needs a double knee replacement. She relies on a cane just to walk.
Despite her condition, she has been denied disability three times. She is currently fighting for a fourth chance, with someone experienced in disability claims. But that process takes time- and time is something she is running out of, both emotionally and financially.
She is not asking for luxury or comfort. She is asking or survival- just enough to feed herself and her daughter and to care for their animals until a judge can step in and enforce her rights, or until her disability is hopefully approved.
Every small donation helps. Every dollar will go toward food and household necessities, animal care, and her daughter’s absolutely necessary health care needs. If you can find it in your heart to give even a little, you’ll be helping someone who is desperately trying to rebuild her life after severe trauma, illness, and emotional and physical abandonment.
You will be helping her to breathe a little easier-literally and figuratively.
With deep gratitude,
her close friend
