Hi, my name is Italy, and I’m a mother of two who recently took in my two young nieces (ages 6 and 8) during a sudden family crisis. I’ve become a full-time caregiver to four children overnight, without any financial support, legal guardianship, or outside help.

This decision came from love — I couldn’t let them go into the foster system. But it’s been extremely hard.

I’m doing everything I can to keep them safe, fed, in school, and emotionally supported. I’ve applied for emergency aid and child-only benefits, but these processes take time — and the need is immediate. Without help, the girls may be separated or placed in a group home.
