Help a Miracle happen for Mikell!

On May 30, 2023, Mikell Woodland was added to the UNOS National Liver Transplant List! Her miracle is coming! Please help this miracle come true!

Mikell’s Medical Journey:
Following an injury in June of 2021, Mikell’s health progressively deteriorated. In December 2021, she was hospitalized and diagnosed with hepatitis. While the diagnosis was serious and possibly life threatening, we were given hope that with a lifestyle change, she could live! It was simple for her. She said, “I want to live. I want to find my best life.”

On December 22, 2021, she set out to find her best life, an alcohol-free life. Days turned into weeks, weeks to months, and months to ONE year, as of May 22, 2023, she is SEVENTEEN months sober! While we celebrated each milestone with joy and pride, she was still plagued with pain, weakness, and fatigue. We received reassurances that she was progressing. Little did we know her liver was regressing. On February 12, 2023, an MRI finally revealed Mikell was in liver failure. Her official diagnosis is Cirrhosis of the liver. It had progressed beyond repair. We were referred to the Intermountain Medical Center Transplant Team and immediately sent to Utah. Ironically the center is located in Murray, our home for 16 years together! Her decision to work for her best life and conquer her addiction paid off! She was declared a viable candidate and now is on the list for a transplant.

So, now we anxiously wait for a liver to become available.

So Many Reasons to Live:
Mikell and her husband and best friend, R.Dee Woodland, moved to Boise, Idaho in October of 2019 to be closer to our grandsons. As they transitioned to our new home, we spent our time making a lot of memories with two sweet little boys who loved hanging out with Mimi and Papa.

Mikell is LOVED! She has so many reasons to live…family and friends who love her, two fur babies who need her, four children including her Kolton, and her two favorite people who call her Mimi.

Also, wouldn’t it be wonderful to honor her hard work of conquering the addiction that plagued her for so many years?

Please Help:
To accept the miracle when a liver becomes available, R. Dee and Mikell need financial assistance. Due to her significant needs, he has been unable to work. They must be ready to drop everything and leave when the call comes! Additionally, they must stay in Utah for up to 6 weeks.

They will need gas, food, and lodging. They also must maintain their residence in Idaho. The financial barriers are great right now.

It’s been a long road, and while they have navigated this together, they need the help of friends, family, and even strangers. If know R and Mikell, you know that someday, they will pay it forward.

All donated funds will go directly to making this miracle happen.
