Help a Miracle Baby Overcome His First Battle
I’m creating this fundraiser for my dear friend, Brooke, and her baby boy, Colton, who have been through an unimaginably difficult start to life.
Colton was delivered in Los Angeles through an emergency C-section. He was born unconscious and had to be resuscitated for a full minute. Brooke also suffered severe blood loss and became anemic. Colton weighed only 5.5 pounds at birth, and by the time they left the hospital, his weight had dropped to just 4.5 pounds.
For the next two months, Colton screamed in agony for up to 16 hours a night. Despite Brooke’s tireless efforts—trying countless formulas and visiting specialist after specialist—he remained in a “failure to thrive” state, below the 1st percentile in weight. Many doctors dismissed his struggles as “colic,” but Brooke never gave up.
Finally, she found a specialized medical team who listened. After x-rays and an array of lab tests, they discovered that Colton has multiple allergies. He now requires a specialized formula mixed with breast milk, while Brooke follows a strict diet to ensure he can digest food. Since then, he has finally begun to grow—reaching the 2nd percentile, and now the 7th. This progress is a blessing, but his journey is far from over. Colton still suffers from projectile vomiting from the only food source that helps him grow, and more tests and treatments lie ahead to help him keep food down and continue thriving.
The cost of this care has been overwhelming. Between Brooke’s emergency surgery, Colton’s NICU stay, ongoing medical appointments, specialized food, and months of living in Los Angeles which she has had to make their home, she has exhausted her savings and has entered debt taking in over $20,000 in expenses.
I’m asking for your help on her behalf. Every donation will go directly toward Colton’s medical care, specialized formula, and living expenses while they continue his treatment. No amount is too small, and if you’re unable to give, sharing this fundraiser is just as meaningful.
Thank you for supporting Brooke and Colton during this critical time. Your kindness and generosity will help give Colton the chance to grow strong and live the healthy life he deserves.
