Hello
My name is Jared Sackor, I'm a naturalized citizen from Liberia who works as a personal caretaker for the elderly in South Minneapolis. Since January my payments have been paused due to Dhs investigations into the agency I'm employed by. This pause is expected to last another month. I believe the agency is being profiled because of the fraud allegations against the Somali community, and now me and many other's livelihoods are at stake. The propaganda in the media spreads a lie that all these companies have nobody on their payroll and they're just taking money for themselves but I am just one example of the many people employed by a Somali company who are on the edge of homelessness right now due to this lie. Though ICE presence has decreased many people are still feeling the aftermath. I am still traumatized from me and loved one's being targeted during the surge
Something has changed since all of that went down. It has been harder to find employment..This has never been a problem for me but now I've been looking for work all over the Twin Cities but I am not hearing back from any of the places I've interviewed for. This has me very stressed about my living situation and Im worried that I will not be able to catch up on my rent and car payments. I have until April 28th to pay the full balance to my landlord or a writ of recovery will be filed. Im turning to the community for support because this is the only option I have right now. The donations will go toward my rent, utilities and car payments.
Please share or leave words of encouragement to help boost my fundraiser if you can't donate. Also, feel free to message me with resources available in the Twin Cities area.
Thank you
