Help a Military Family Return Home to Guam to Honor Their Father

In our CHamoru culture, family is everything. When someone we love leaves this world, we go home. We gather. We comfort one another. We honor our elders with respect, love, and presence.

But my dear friends Fae and Chris Unchangco and their children are thousands of miles away, stationed far from home, after the heartbreaking passing of her father. Their hearts are in Guam, but they are struggling to physically get there.

Her husband serves active duty in the United States Army, giving himself to service, sacrifice, and the mission of protecting our nation. Like many military families from Guam, they carry the weight of distance—missing birthdays, holidays, and precious moments with family back home. And now, in their deepest moment of grief, that distance feels heavier than ever.

All they want is to return home to Guam…

To sit with family

To pray.

To pay respects.

To surround themselves with love and tradition as they lay her father to rest.

But last-minute international flights to Guam are extremely expensive, especially for a family. The financial burden is daunting, and it is preventing them from being where they need to be most.
