Hi my name's is Karen and I want to share with you our story. My dear friend's family is facing an unimaginable challenge, and we're reaching out for your help.

Paola, just 20 years old, it's in a place where she needs to leave her job and dropped college to care for her mom in Mexico, who's been battling a serious illness for far too long.

She is a passionate hardworking young woman with a big heart and unconditional love for her family.

Her mother, 52 years old, is a dedicated strong hardworking woman, proud single mother who unconditionally loves her kids that is always willing to share a smile even in the hardest times.

Her passion for raising her children and her great efforts at work have caused her multiple visits to the operating room for hernias and other medical ailments for many years now, but this last time we needed your valuable help.

With her two young brothers, aged 11 and 13, relying on her, Paola is shouldering the weight of caregiving and financial struggles alone.

Her mom is currently hospitalized in Mexico with an open wound that requires constant special care from qualified surgeons but the public hospital is unable to provide the necessary medical attention and supplies needed.

She had an incisional and umbilical hernia procedure done in April 9th that later caused complications.

She was left with a 4.8 inches highly delicate and profound open wound that got severely infected and needs surgery done again as soon as possible to clean the infection and save her mother's life.

In Mexico most healthcare services are free but it is not reliable and high quality. All the time hospitals are packed with people in urgent care, professionals try to have the time to attend everyone but unfortunately they are understaffed with not enough supplies and equipment for everyone.

Unfortunately they do not have the same social programs as USA to get assistance, they can only rely on each other.

We are having a hard time requesting, at least, copies of all the studies she got done and the surgeons diagnosis on paper. But we are still working hard on it.

Her surgeon recently advised to purchase a medical device called V.A.C that could save her mother's life after the surgery to clean the infection is done.

But it's way too expensive.

Additional hiring a professional nurse is desperately needed to provide the care and treatment she requires since is expected to be a long recovery with still an open wound. Expected to be for up to 5 months.

To make matters worse, the family has already taken on a significant debt to cover medical expenses and basic necessities like food, bills and transportation.

Every day, Paola worries about how to provide for her dear family's needs while her mom's health and life hangs in the balance.
