Help a Matt and Marie live their bucket list
Matt and Marie are an average couple that were living average lives of wake up, work and go to bed with lots of love and laughs in between. In January 2021 they discovered a tumour on Matts lung and they remained positive it could be removed. After a biopsy, it was confirmed this wasn’t the case and the cancer was Melanoma. This is a skin cancer and meant it has spread from somewhere. After a full body scan, Matt and Marie faced the devastating news that the cancer had spread to his spine, lymph nodes, liver and that there were 20 in his brain and the cancer was terminal.
The specialists first tried Immunotherapy, but Matts brain struggled with this treatment and the cells began creating fluid and the pressure on his brain meant we could have lost him within days. His skin went grey, he lost lots of weight and was too tired to walk. We all sat round the phone (we weren’t allowed in hospital) to see if our terminator could fight this battle, and he won! He made it through the worst and was now stable and remained positive!
The doctors ran tests and found he could start on a genetic chemotherapy tablet. After a couple of months on this Matt started to put weight back on, have colour in his face and we all began to relax! The scans showed the tumours had shrunk by half! We are all so grateful. The specialists have said this treatments research shows it only works for 9 months which for Matt will be November, then it will be a matter of trying to see what else can work for him. It’s a terminal cancer so it’s all about what can give him more time!
Since the news that this is potentially Matts last summer of being so well, they have both quit work and are determined to remain positive and enjoy their time together. They have lots on their bucket list such as renting a camper and travelling up the UK, but their money is very limited especially now they have both left work to spend their time together.
This go fund me page was suggested from a few of their friends that wanted to contribute and help them to do the things they want to do together. If you know how down to earth and hard working Matt and Marie are and want to contribute any amount to their bucket list plans, they would be so grateful. They never ask for anything from anyone but always go above and beyond for their loved ones and they wouldn’t expect this help but if we can support them, even a little bit, I know how much it would mean to them.
Thank you so much for al your support, it means the world to both of them and our family.
