On the 17th of January at approximately 12:15 a.m., there was a fire in my apartment. The apartment and everything in it were a total loss.

I share the apartment with my 14-year-old son, and we have lived there for 5 years. My son is disabled with cerebral palsy, and he lost everything. I'm a very proud single dad who 99% of the time will not ask for help. Some things, admittedly, I can't do by myself, and that includes this incident.

We didn't have renter's insurance, and there are very few resources available at this time. We lost everything. It just so happens I've been off work due to a car accident last year and I can't afford the expenses on my own. I'm busting my butt trying to find us something, but I need your help. As hard as it is to ask... I need help. I have to get a roof over this kid's head. That's the bottom line.
