A friend in Crisis:
My dear friend Maria is facing eviction and urgently needs our help to keep a roof over her and her two young children’s heads.
Maria is one of the most selfless people I’ve ever met. I met her while working in low-income neighborhoods in Atlanta, helping to TNR (trap, neuter, return) community cats. From the moment I met her, she did all she could to help my efforts, she was and is always the first to comfort a sick or injured cat or any animal in need.
Her compassion runs deep — not just for animals, but for every person she meets. But now, Maria — someone who has spent years helping others — is the one who needs help.
The Fire That Changed Everything:
Earlier this year, tragedy struck Maria when a fire broke out in the apartment next door to Maria’s. The flames spread quickly, and in moments, her entire world went up in smoke.
She lost everything — her home, her possessions, and heartbreakingly, her beloved rescue dog and cats.
Though she was able to relocate to another unit in the same complex, Maria has been struggling ever since to rebuild her life from the ashes.
Even while struggling emotionally, financially, and physically, Maria is the best mom, and she continues to show up for her community every single day, even while she continues to grieve unimaginable loss.
A Mother Doing Everything She Can:
Maria is a hardworking, single mom doing everything possible to keep her and her two young children afloat. Her children always come first and she sacrifices continuously to do all she can for them. She takes on as many hours as she possibly can at work, but despite her best efforts, she’s fallen behind on rent after months of unexpected expenses from the fire.
Her ex-husband, the father of her children, provides no financial support, and Maria has been solely responsible for every bill, every meal, every school supply, and every ounce of emotional strength her kids need.
Now, she’s past due $5,011.52 and faces imminent eviction if she can’t make up the balance.
Losing their home would be devastating for Maria and her children — a final blow after so much loss.
Let’s Show Maria She’s Not Alone...
Maria has spent her life giving — always placing her children's needs first, rescuing animals, helping her neighbors, and lifting up everyone around her. Now, it’s time for us to give back.
How you can help:
We are hoping to raise $7,500 in order to:
1. Cover past-due rent to prevent eviction ($5,011.52)
2. Help with next month’s rent and basic necessities (food, gas, daycare)
3. Give Maria and her children a chance to stabilize and rebuild without the fear of losing their home.
No donation is too small. Every $10, $20, or $50 gets them closer to security and peace of mind. And if you can’t give financially, please share this campaign — your share could reach the person who can make a life-changing difference.
Maria has endured more in one year than most do in a lifetime — yet she continues to radiate kindness and courage. Please help us keep this incredible woman and her children safely housed while she continues to rebuild her life.
Thank you for reading, donating, and sharing. Your compassion means more than words can say.
