Our family has known Roslyn and her family for over nine years. She was our children’s nanny, and over time became part of our family. Roslyn, her husband, Nelson and their three daughters came to the United States seeking asylum from Venezuela. They escaped incredibly difficult circumstances and have worked hard to build a safe, stable life here in America.
Roslyn and Nelson both have valid work permits, have been legally employed for years, and have consistently paid taxes. They have assimilated fully into their community and are raising three wonderful daughters.
A few weeks ago, everything changed. While at work, Nelson was taken into ICE custody during a job-site detention involving the entire crew. The family was prepared and immediately gathered all required documentation. We hoped he would be released that same night—but sadly, he remains in detention.
The family has now been forced to hire an immigration attorney to try to secure his release on bond. He is unable to work while detained, meaning there is no income coming in. Even speaking to him by phone carries an expense with the collect call. The emotional and financial strain on this family has been overwhelming.
This GoFundMe is to help ease that burden:
• Legal and bond-related expenses
• Basic living costs while income is lost
• Phone calls so the family can stay connected
• Help with this $14,000 bond that must be paid in full.
Roslyn and her family are kind, hardworking, and deeply grateful people who never imagined facing this situation. Any contribution—no matter the size—will help support them during this incredibly frightening and uncertain time.
If you’re unable to give, please consider sharing. Thank you for helping us surround this family with hope, dignity, and love during the holidays.
All money goes directly to Roslyn and Nelson to help with the expenses to get through time.
