Hello, my name is Elizabeth. I'm a mommy of 4. My kids and I are currently homeless, staying in our van. We've been homeless since September 8th. We started to stay with my mother, which only lasted 5 days until she kicked me and my kids out. It's been 3 weeks in our van, and we have been struggling to get back up on our feet.

My kids' father is in the picture; he helps, but with him being the only income, his paychecks aren't enough in this economy. We definitely can't survive with just his paycheck. We co-parent; we're separated at the moment, but he does help. To distract the kids we take them for parks they love going to the beach we try to take them a lot but with gas being so expensive we can’t take as often as we like. When he gets paid the check goes to hotel for a few days gas and food then we’re back at 0 and back on the van. So basically one week in hotel one week in van.

Being homeless with 4 kids and everything being so expensive, we hardly get by. We're lucky that sometimes my dad can help, but he is also struggling, so I don't like to ask him a lot.

After what happened with my mother, I haven't spoken to her. She sees me where I park the car, but she would not come to me, let alone my kids. I'm blessed to have my dad!

I'm also applying for jobs, any and every job that will give me an opportunity. As a mother and being a SAHM (stay-at-home mom) for 9 years, it's hard to find employment because of my gaps, but I'm not losing hope. I will continue to look for a job and apply.
