Support for Judith's Medical Bills

Life has a way of testing even the strongest hearts! Today, we’re asking for your help for two of the kindest, most loving people we know--Ken and Judith Brooks.

Judith’s health crises began with significant abdominal pain. Her condition worsened as she was hospitalized* and jaundice set in. Two tests, a CT and MRI, confirmed a large mass at the head of the pancreas. The surgeon told Judith he did not know if it would be operable. Praise God the surgeon was able to operate! Her surgery lasted 7 hours!

Now the couple faces an excess of $20,000 for Judith's medical expenses related to her lengthy, 31-day hospital stay, surgery, and doctor’s expenses. Options for American Medical Insurance to assist were pursued but no assistance will be provided for Judith's medical bills in the Philippines. Updates will be provided regarding Judith's recovery as they are available.

Ken and Judith are a devoted couple who have been married for over five years. Prior to going to the Philippines in late 2024 to be with Judith’s family through the winter, they have been residents** of NW Washington State where Ken is a house painter, and Judith has been his able assistant. Although he is in his 70’s, Ken is back to painting homes. He feels obligated to pay off the extensive medical bills in the Philippines. Judith has not been able to travel and is recovering with the strong support of her family in the Philippines.

After Judith was discharged from the hospital another challenge struck their lives. A few days after returning home, Ken experienced a TIA (light stroke) and was hospitalized for a short time. Ken struggled for a week or two to regain his full ability to read and speak. Praise God he has nearly recovered and has been increasing his work hours as his strength has improved.

** Judith and Ken have been active participants in local Seventh-day Adventist congregations where they sing praises to God in a band Ken leads. Many people in America and the Philippines have prayed for Judith and Ken. Judith and Ken continue to give thanks and praise to God as they reflect on the many ways God has intervened in their lives! Judith shares these words: “God is so good and true to His promise that He will be with us whatever the circumstances in our lives.”
