Help a Lookout Landing staffer in crisis

Edit: Wow. We collectively are so overwhelmed by the generosity of our readers, friends, friends of friends, and complete strangers. With your help, we were able to reach our initial goal of $5,000 in less than 24 hours. We are so incredibly thankful for everyone who has chosen to help our friend . For transparency, our initial goal was $5,000, chosen before we had really any idea of what to expect (it wasn't this!) and we are now hoping and dreaming for a little more, and raising our goal with the objective to help our friend to be able to cover a security deposit, moving expenses, and hopefully a couple months rent until they are able to get a new job. We want our friend to be able to be somewhere safe for them, their partner, their dogs and their two young children. Thank you all, from the bottom of our hearts. Hello Lookout Landing readers,

We are asking you to help us help our beloved friend and Lookout Landing staff writer and longtime LL community member, who wishes to remain anonymous for safety reasons.

Our friend has been through the wringer recently. They are trying to relocate back to Washington State, but unexpected challenges and physical/domestic violence mean they are currently living in their car with their three dogs while their partner is living alone in an unsafe and abusive environment with their two very young children. Our friend is currently unable to go visit or see their partner or children due to violence and restrictions by the other members of the household. These challenges have been amplified by them spending most of their savings in the last few months providing for their parents.

Their primary needs we are hoping to help them with at this time are:

Get their partner and children to a safe location, ie. finding a new place to rent.

New tires (their's are currently worn down to the tread), oil change and payment for their car, as it is currently their residence and source of income.

Saving to find a safe and stable residence for their family.

Basic necessities (food, water, etc.).

Finding a foster for their three adorable and well-behaved dogs until they can find a safe residence.
