Hi there, I am Sabrina and I am asking for help to finance my expensive, but essential final steps of my sexual reassignment journey.
I am almost two years into my transition, it’s going really well, but as an immigrant alone in New York - life can be a struggle. I’ve overcome many challenges to get where I am today, but now, for no fault of my own - I have hit some financial roadblocks that require a helping hand.
Due to my immigrant status and my work contract, the appropriate medical insurance that covers the majority of transgender healthcare is no longer available. Therefore, I am constrained to carry out said procedures privately - but this costs - big time.
Electrolysis, surgery and anesthesia fees, hospitalization costs... everything adds up.
Just to get by alone in New York, I’ve had to boost my income by taking on two jobs. As a result of this, I am being penalised for my very modest earnings, as a ballet instructor and make-up consultant - literally just a few cents over the threshold - and am no longer eligible for insurance. This has put a huge spanner in the works to a two-year long journey, consisting of hormone replacement therapy, a tracheal shave, as well as heavy, time-consuming and expensive bureaucratic procedures to successfully have my legal gender status changed. The only way to continue with my journey is to find alternative routes to continue - and I’m hoping to get by with a little help from friends.
The next step is FFS, facial feminization surgery, a procedure to soften my features, alleviate gender dysphoria and give me the confidence and dignity to get by in a world that remains often hostile to people like me.
The ultimate goal for me is gender confirmation surgery, an extremely invasive surgery that requires hospitalization and a long period of recovery afterwards during which I would not be able to work.
Therefore I would be eternally grateful to anyone who can contribute with whatever they have to help me achieve this.
I will keep you all updated with my journey and reward you with love and eternal best wishes for enabling me to live happily and comfortably in my own skin.
Thanks,
Sabrina
