Our local school experienced significant building damage from a series of powerful windstorms in December 2025. These storms brought hurricane-force gusts — with winds over 80–90 mph reported across the region.

Thanks to an incredible outpouring of community support, many of the repairs to our school have already been completed, and we are deeply grateful for the many donated labor hours that made this possible. That generosity significantly reduced overall costs and allowed work to begin immediately. addressing structural damage and safety needs.

However, even with donated labor, repair bills are continuing to stack up, and total expenses exceed $30,000. We are raising funds to cover materials, specialized contracted services, and outstanding invoices so the school can remain safe and financially stable while it continues serving students.

Why insurance isn't covering these repairs:
Our school district operates under a self-insurance model with a $250,000 per-claim deductible for property damage. Because repair costs fall below that threshold, insurance reimbursement is not available. Approximately 90% of Academy's operating budget is dedicated to staffing, including teacher salaries and benefits, to maintain small class sizes and a high-quality educational environment. The remaining portion of the budget must cover all operational expenses, leaving little flexibility to absorb large, unexpected facility repair costs like this.

We have also applied for FEMA assistance, but those funds are not guaranteed and, if approved, can take a long time to arrive — time we don’t have when safety and financial obligations are pressing. If FEMA funding is eventually received and all storm-related repair bills are covered, any excess funds raised will be used for other essential school-related expenses that directly benefit students

We are incredibly thankful for every donation, share, and helping hand. Your support helps our school stay strong through this unexpected challenge.
