Honoring Jeffro: A Local Legend, Forever Remembered
Donation protected
With heavy hearts and profound gratitude, we share the passing of our dear friend, mentor, and icon, Jeff Groom, who died peacefully after facing cancer with tremendous strength and spirit.
Cowboy, father, husband, friend, mentor, business owner, horseman, jack-of-all, and at times larger than life, Jeffro was diagnosed with a rare stage two liver cancer in April 2023. Throughout the past years, he faced his disease with the grit and heart that defined his entire life—responding to treatment and holding out hope for a transplant while surrounded by love, family, and support from this incredible community.
Jeffro was a fifth-generation cowboy in the Roaring Fork Valley and a beloved character in the lives of so many. He embodied the values this community was built on: humility, humor, generosity, and an unwavering willingness to show up and lend a hand. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, skill, storytelling, and deep connection to land, to people, and to purpose.
The funds raised through this campaign have gone toward supporting Jeff’s cancer treatment, travel, and medical costs, and moving forward, remaining contributions will go toward his memorial and to help support his family during this time of transition.
It has been an incredible honor to witness this community come together—friends, neighbors, ranch hands, and strangers alike—to show up for someone who’s given so much of himself to others. Jeff’s heart was huge, and his personality even bigger. Your contributions, messages, and prayers helped lift him and his family during the hardest stretch of their journey.
Thank you for being part of this story. Thank you for helping us honor a man who meant so much to so many. And thank you for reminding us all of the deep beauty in showing up for one another.
With gratitude and love,
