Local Hero Saves Disabled Man from Vicious Dog

Hi, my name is Indo. For the past ten years I have had the pleasure of knowing one of the most kind-hearted people I have ever met. This is Maryellen Mullins. She is a loving mother and grandmother and the best person you could ever have the pleasure of working with. Maryellen works at a company that provides support for adults who have disabilities such as autism, down syndrome, and fetal alcohol syndrome. She is passionate and dedicated to caring for those she supports and always arrive to work with a smile on her face. On the afternoon of August 17th, 2021, Maryellen was walking through a neighborhood in Fortuna with a young man she provides care for when a local dog that is known for being aggressive jumped it's fence and savagely attacked them. The dog headed for the young man, but without thinking Maryellen threw herself in front of the dog, saving the young man. As a result she received multiple severe bites from the dog. She was rushed to the hospital where she now awaits several surgeries and a lengthy recovery time. I put together this GoFundMe to raise money for Maryellen and her family to help cover expenses while she recovers. She is a local hero and should be celebrated for her bravery.
