Hi there, my name is Anita. I am raising fund for my brother. I am a strong advocate for mental awareness.
On Mother’s Day in 1993, a devastating crash on Forks of the Credit Road in Caledon claimed the lives of eight young people. My brother was in the Chevrolet Monte Carlo that night, caught in the middle of the unimaginable tragedy that forever changed our community.
Instead of running away from the horror, my brother ran toward it. He pulled teenagers from burning cars, saving lives while risking his own. For his courage, he later received a heroism award.
But while he was praised for his bravery, his life afterward was never the same. The trauma he experienced that night left deep scars. He never received proper counseling or support, and he has battled severe mental health issues ever since—along with years of addiction. Through sheer determination, he is now 4 years clean, but the weight of his past continues to haunt him. Today, he is isolated, and still living with the aftermath of that night more than 30 years ago.
My brother gave everything he had in those terrifying moments in 1993, yet he has lived with silent suffering ever since. Now he needs our community’s help.
I am raising $7000 to give him a fresh start and the dignity he deserves. The funds will go directly toward:
Safe housing – a stable place to live while he rebuilds
Counseling & mental health care – access to the support he never received after the tragedy
Basic essentials – food, clothing, and transportation
Rebuilding stability – helping him work toward independence and a second chance at life
No amount is too small. Every donation will go directly toward giving him the peace and stability he has been fighting for over three decades.
Please consider supporting this local hero who once gave so much of himself to save others. And if you can’t donate, please share this story so it reaches more hearts.
Thank you for helping us show my brother that he is not forgotten, and that the same community forever changed by that tragic night still stands beside him today.
