I'm a middle school librarian and a single mom, with a child who's graduating from high school and going to college. I would like to attend the American Library Association Annual Conference & Exhibition in Chicago this June. My school district is having a budget crisis and has frozen all funding for all schools within our district. Therefore, they won't be able to reimburse me for my expenses. I feel that going to the ALA Conference will greatly benefit my school library and students, especially the neurodivergent students whom I read to on a regular basis. I will be able to attend seminars and workshops like the “Accessible Book Building Workshop” and the “Graphic Novels Community Round Table Forum: Community Building Through Comics” seminar.
The approximate cost to attend this seminar is $1,220. This includes the price of registration, $330; airplane ticket, $450; and hotel room, $440. I will be sharing a hotel room with another librarian to save on costs. I will be bringing snacks and saving on food by eating at the convention.
I will provide donors with receipts. I appreciate any monetary amount. Thank you for your support and consideration!
