Hello everyone, my name is Korey and I'm a 21 year old, mentally ill lesbian from Peru who has been trying to leave their house and country for years due to constant abuse and living in an overall unsafe, toxic and homophobic environment that continues to take a great toll on my mental health and put me at physical risk. Due to the pandemic and both economic and political crises, getting a job has gotten increasily difficult in my country, and dealing with a serious mental illness and neurodivergency has made it even harder for me. But even if I could get a job, gaining enough money to immigrate and afford a living in the US could take me over a decade (yeah, immigrating is a long and complicated process). 

 

I have been dating my girlfriend Hannah for almost 3 years, and have been best friends for longer. We have had plans to move in together and get married for years now, they have helped me set this fundraiser up and they'd be helping me with everything else that's necessary for us to be together/for me to escape my current situation and have somewhere to stay once I do. All I'd need is extra help for immigration papers, traveling expenses, and to be able to cost my living while I'm unable to legally work (until I get my green card, which is another process that requires more documents and money, and can take a lot of time). 

 

I'm turning to gofundme after years of struggling, knowing I won't be able to stay safe for another year. I will do everything I can to achieve a better living on my side, I just need an extra push to get to the starting point and finally create a better living for myself in a healthy environment where my mental health can also start to recover.
