9-6-25-Update for Donors:
On September 5, 2025, a refund request was submitted to GoFundMe. The platform is now working to issue refunds for all donors. Please allow 3–7 business days for the refund to process, depending on your bank or payment method.
Thank you for your generosity, understanding, and patience.
9-5-25- To our community,
It is with a heavy heart that I share this update. Despite our community’s generosity and support, the family we came together to help has continued a public smear campaign against me, spreading false accusations and attacking my character. Their behavior has been deeply disappointing and hurtful, especially as I have clear proof of all my conversations with Rodrigo and proof that not a single dollar has been spent or kept for myself.
This situation has not only hurt me personally but has also hurt the Lakewood parents and the Lakewood community who helped organize this fundraiser. They are in disbelief at the actions and accusations coming from his family after all the time, effort, and love that went into supporting them.
Because of their actions, every single donation will be fully returned to the donors. We have already submitted a request to return ALL funds. If the family wishes to continue raising money, they are free to create their own GoFundMe page.
Although this situation is heartbreaking, it does not take away from the incredible efforts of our community. It was truly beautiful to see us all come together so quickly in support of a family in crisis. My hope is that this unfortunate incident will not discourage anyone from donating in the future when our Lakewood parents and community organize fundraisers to help those in need.
Thank you for your generosity, unity, and commitment to standing together as a community.
With gratitude,
Lakewood Community
9-4-25 Early this morning, ICE agents detained a beloved father in our Lakewood school neighborhood while he was simply taking his child to school. This has left his only child devastated, and the family is now in urgent need of support.
As one family member shared:
“Thank you for spreading awareness — it’s needed in times like this. He’s not a criminal, he doesn’t deserve this. He’s a father who went to go send his son to school.”
This father has worked tirelessly to provide for his child and contribute to our community. His sudden detention has not only shaken his family emotionally but has also placed a heavy financial burden on them.
We are raising funds to cover:
• Legal fees to secure proper representation
• Bond costs for his release
• Basic needs for his child during this crisis (housing, food, school support)
Every contribution, no matter the size, will help this father and child fight for justice and stability. Your donation shows them they are not alone, and that our community stands with them during this painful time.
Any remaining funds will go to support other Lakewood families who are facing this same situation now, or who may face it in the future. We will be very transparent in sharing how all funds are used, so donors can see exactly where their generosity is making an impact. As well as providing a signed form from the affected family stating the exact dollar amount received for this case.
Please also keep this family in your prayers, share this campaign widely, and stand with us as we fight for their right to remain together.
Together, we can lift this father and child up and keep them safe.
