Help a labor and LGBTQ activist during post surgery period

Hi Friends and union brothers, sisters & siblings.

As many of you know, I have major surgery scheduled for January 6th. This surgery has been in the works for over a year and due to the political climate, cannot be delayed. This surgery will keep me out of work for 12 weeks.

Anna and I did our best to prepare despite an extended time unemployed and working for Lyft, and were on track to have a bit of a cushion to survive until disability kicks in, but unfortunately, in early December, my car died.

Thankfully, the car was under warranty, so repairs were covered, but it took with it my ability to earn income for nearly 2.5 weeks. Between that, a slower than normal work season, increased monthly expenses over the holiday, and some last-minute pre-op surgical expenses, the funds we expected to have dried completely up. Even worse, we've heard that the disability office is running 4-6 weeks behind their normal schedule. This means we might not see a dime of state assistance until March.

What we are asking for is help specifically covering my bills while we await disability. Anna is working full-time and can cover her portion of expenses. We don't foresee any surprise medical bills as we've reached my out-of-pocket maximum.

We are trying to cover the following for two months and have based the GoFundMe goal to cover it:

Rent: 1250

Car: 535

Cell phone: 90

Insurance: 220

ATT: 75

In the meantime, Anna is seeking OT at work and doing Lyft as well, and Anna will be setting up a meal train for those who are local and want to bring food by post-op. I've also picked up crochet and will try my hand at selling some to make extra cash. Let me know if you have a pattern you want made ^.^
