After years of work, there is one remaining financial road block me graduating from Howard University and beginning my Doctorate of Social Work - $5,000.
I am a first generation college student with plans to cross the graduation stage this May at Howard University. I never thought I’d have to ask the internet for financial help but a $5,000 scholarship I earned was not received due to technicalities with the university and without it, I will not graduate.
I’m a student at the Howard University School of Social Work striving to obtain my Master's Degree. I've been blessed and honored to be accepted into the Social Work Doctoral Program, which begins in the Fall of 2025. In order to make my future goals happen, I need my balance of $1,200 paid by April 11. All remaining funds were allotted to cover my April and May rent - my cost of living through graduation. Though my rent is not paid, my priority is paying my school balance so I can graduate in May.
I have exhausted all outlets I can — applying for additional scholarships, searching for grants, and attempting to apply for a credit card. None of those options have proved fruitful, and my last my is to reach out to ask whoever is willing to help to make sure my years of work are not in vain.
Anything is appreciated. Donations. Considerations. Shares. Thank you for your time and thinking of me.
UPDATE: An organization has paid the remaining balance!!! Any additional donation after April 7th will go towards rent assistance!!
