Hi everyone,
I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of a friend and fellow healthcare worker who is going through an incredibly difficult time. For privacy and safety reasons, they’ve chosen to remain anonymous — but I can assure you this story is genuine, and the need is urgent. She has confided in me, and I can't sit back and not do anything to help her.
My friend’s husband, a hardworking man who has lived in, paid his taxes in and contributed to his community in the U.S. since 2006. He was detained by immigration authorities about a month ago. This has completely upended their family’s life.
In the past month, my friend has had to shoulder the responsibilities of being a single parent while continuing to serve patients full-time. She had been pursuing an advanced degree to better her career and provide for her children, but she’s had to pause her studies and take on extra work just to keep things going at home.
To make things even harder, the first attorney they hired took advantage of their situation — charging thousands of dollars and providing no real help. They were scammed out of $20k. Thankfully, she has now found a trusted and experienced immigration lawyer in her area who is working tirelessly to bring her husband home, and keep him on US soil while this is all in process. But the legal costs are significant, and she needs help covering the fees so she can continue the fight to reunite her family.
Every contribution — no matter how small — will go directly toward legal expenses and essential support for the family as they navigate this ordeal. If you aren’t able to donate, sharing this campaign would mean the world.
Out of respect for my friend’s privacy and safety, I’m keeping identifying details private, but I can personally vouch for her integrity and the legitimacy of this need.
Thank you for showing compassion to a family that’s worked hard, cared for others, and now just needs a bit of care in return.
With gratitude,
Tarah
