The man pictured on the far left is Virgil Gus Mortensen, or simply Gus to anyone who knows him. He is a devoted father and fast friend to everyone he meets. A truck driver by trade, he faces the challenges of a hazardous job and speaks fondly of the day he can come home for good. But that is not this day.
On Tuesday, January 09 while driving in poor weather conditions, Gus’s truck hydroplaned off a highway interchange and plummeted to the freeway below. Hydroplaned Miraculously he survived and no one else was hurt but Gus is in critical condition, fighting for his life, and in a coma. A bunch of us, his colleagues and friends, want to help. This campaign is to offset medical costs and support his family while Gus is unable to.
WHEN he wakes up, the first thing he will worry about is whether or not others were injured that Tuesday. The next thing will be his concern for his family. As the sole provider for his wife and three sons, more than just his truck came crashing down on a rainy day. It’s possible he may never drive again but he deserves to come home - HIS home. Please help Gus, if only just a little. Every bit counts.
