grieving mother and her children
On the evening of October 23, 2018, Gretchen Post arrived home from a long day of work, only to find her 17 year old son,
Jack Post had committed suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning.
Gretchen and Jack were the best of friends, as they lived alone together, with her oldest two away in college. Jack was an
extremely intelligent, happy, fun loving junior at St. Francis Borgia High school in Washington, Missouri.
Gretchen has been a nurse for 28 years and is such an amazing person, nurse, mother, friend, etc. She is so sweet, kind, and loving.
She has not been able to work since the loss of her youngest child, as herself and two older children, Hannah 23 and Jake 22 , deal with the struggles of tragically losing a loved one. Still such a long road ahead of them.
As many may have seen on multiple media outlets, that Gretchen's co-workers at Mercy Hospital, won part of the last
Mega Millions drawing on the same night that Jack took his own life. They decided to donate half of the winning to help pay for his funeral and the other half to one of their neonatalogists, whose husband is battling cancer.
Gretchen was ever so grateful. Now some kind souls have reached out with questions about how they can participate in donating
for this cause. We hope that this page can help Gretchen with continued funeral costs and the healing process for herself and
her children.
