Help Stephen Buttigieg After His Pride & Joy Was Stolen
Donation protected
Our family is devastated. A hard working father of 4, kind and humble grandfather, has recently lost something he worked his whole life for — his Holden GTS, valued at $120,000, which he had lovingly kept in pristine condition for decades as his retirement nest egg.
This car wasn’t just a car. With only 20,000 km on it, it was his pride and joy, washed and polished regularly, stored carefully, and cherished for years. He always planned to sell it when the time was right so he could retire with security and help his kids and grandkids with a head start in life.
But tragedy struck. Not long ago, my father-in-law was forced to stop working after being diagnosed as legally blind. With his health changing, he finally decided it was time to part with the car and use the money to support his retirement and his family.
He found a potential buyer on Facebook who came across as professional and trustworthy. Sadly, this man was a scammer. While pretending to inspect the car, he tricked him into stepping behind it to check the boot — and in that moment, drove off with the car. Just like that, his $120,000 retirement fund was gone.
Because the car wasn’t registered or insured at the time, there is no financial safety net. What he had worked so hard for, and hoped to pass on to his children and grandchildren, was stolen in an instant.
This fundraiser is to help give him back some of what was taken — a chance to move forward with dignity after such a cruel act. Every donation, no matter the size, will help ease the heavy burden this has placed on him. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing his story.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness and support.
