Help a Gazan doctor travel to Ireland for work

Donation protected
Hi My name is Talal Ahmed, I live and work in the UK. I'm starting this GoFundMe on behalf of my friend Dr Momen Hellis. Momen is a Palestinian doctor who is currently living in Gaza. He has managed to secure a job in a hospital in Waterford, Ireland, and he is currently sheltering near Rafah crossingborder - as he is seeking a way out to Egypt, then Ireland to start his new position. Momen needs to leave to Ireland by Mid January 2024, otherwise he will risk losing his new job.

As you may be aware, the situation in Gaza at the moment is extremely dire, the Israeli government is carrying out a genocide over Gaza strip since the 7th of October, which has resulted in over 20K loss of innocent lives; of which are more than 8K children. In addition, humanitarian supply is almost non-existent and basic life necessities are totally absent, especially with the Israeli government controlling Gazan borders and preventing any aids from getting in.

Dr Hellis has been working on his Irish Medical Council registration for over two years, while serving in the Internal Medicine department in Al-Shifaa hospital in Gaza, which has been bombed over the recent escalations. Momen has obtained his Medical degree from Africa International University (AIU) in Khartoum, Sudan, where he lived for over six years, before he went back to Gaza and started working to help his people. Now, due to the war in Gaza, Momen has to leave as soon as possible, so he could start his new job and continue to support his family financially, as well as to continue progressing in his career.

Obtaining medical training opportunities overseas is extremely difficult for Palestinians, even without the adding stress and hindrance caused by the war. Gaza civilians have been living under siege for over 16 years now, not allowed to leave Gaza strip for other than extremely urgent humanitarian reasons, even those could be easily denied by the Israeli government or by the other involved authorities. When Momen first travelled to Sudan to pursue his undergraduate degree, he was only 17 years old, and had to go through many hardships and struggles just to be able to leave the largest open air prison the Israeli government has managed to create and get his degree. More than 9 years later, he now finds himself in even more complicated and unfair situation.

Momen needs more than 7000 USD so he could obtain his visa to Egypt first, then Ireland, in addition to tickets, first month rent in Ireland and some pocket cash for living (covering the first month from when he arrives in Ireland plus the living expenses in Egypt while awaiting for his visa) (equivalent to £5500).

This is literally a one-in-a-lifetime-opportunity for Momen. Being born Palestinian means not having any chances to see your dreams come into reality - it is living without having the privilege of experiencing life, and that is the best case scenario, but mostly living under the constant fear of losing your life at any second by an Israeli airstrike.

Once the target has been reached, the money will be transferred to Momen via Western Union.
