Hi! I'm a freshman at Hamline University dreaming of becoming an elementary school teacher. Unfortunately due to the current administration lowering the amount of federal aid students can receive, my FAFSA didn't cover my full tuition for this school year and I still owe over $4500. A registration hold for next semester has been put on my account meaning once this semester is up, I won't be able to continue schooling. We have a teacher shortage in MN, not to mention a terrible lack of diversity in what little teaching staff we currently have. Students of color, especially young students deserve qualified teachers of color to act as role models and lead them into the future, but they won't get that if potential teachers of color can't finish school. Currently, I'm doing a clinical at Highland Park Elementary being a teaching assistant for 2nd and 3rd graders. The children love me and I absolutely adore each and every one of them and what I do in the classroom, at recess, and during their lunch time. Teaching is truly my dream job and I would love to further my education to do so. Whatever you can donate helps more than you know, and if you can't donate, please spread this gofundme around. Please support!
