Help a friend survive now!

Hello,

I'm a senior, queer woman with disabilities (learning disabilities and I'm mobility-impaired), but I can and do care for myself. I have experienced housing instability for ten years, mostly from BnBs and housing prices exploding on the west coast, and I've experienced discrimination in employment and from landlords. A 2BR Apt in Washington State requires a person to be paid over $40/hour. My income from my disabilities is way under the rent out here, and it is impossible for me to find a rental-share, etc. So, I have no where to go.

Currently, I'm working very hard to re-home myself with my Emotional Support Animal (ESA), Jez. I need to find a longterm place for us to live by mid-to-late Aug 2025. This fundraiser is for my moving expenses, and for my transportation needs. I'm a creative problem solver and although not everything can work, I do continue to try.

Rental Housing Crisis

The usual resources for low-income housing have dried up with so many people who are homeless & any organizations still operating have raised their criteria to help the most extreme situations. I’ve been able to push my current move date back to the end of August, but that is definitely when I need to be out.

I’m not looking for pity, but I’m in the situation where I need to ask you for financial help. I’ve managed to avoid homelessness, but it required many short stays and the exhaustion of having to move too many times in the past ten years. If we can't plan for the near future, we can't find medical providers. That takes time and planning, and with my belongings in storage at one location, and without a car to drive there. My mobility challenges are not exclusive to my physical impairments. It’s hard to believe it’s been ten years, but it has. And as I'm getting older the need becomes greater. However... I have several ideas that can work with your help & generosity.

I have a Bachelors degree and I continue to learn and to improve myself. I want to work! I've volunteered at food pantries, crisis centers, and working with kids & art. 

I'm a Multimedia Artist, and have had my photography published Internationally. I've been a Photographer/Video Editor and have worked in child care (Nanny, daycare, & pre-school) for many years. I've worked on commercial film/video productions as a props asst, wardrobe, and as an extra in film and music video which includes directing and recording interviews with (mostly) Seattle musicians. But no one will hire me now because of my age and disabilities, so I can't afford the rent anywhere.

So, as it stands, I need your help to turn this situation around and avoid being in this constant state of stress, not knowing when or where I'll have to move, or if I'll be completely homeless. These are unprecedented times and we need to help each other. I've volunteered all of my life, like my parents and I will continue to do so while advocating for those struggling. No donation amount is too little and I will definitely be paying it forward!
