A close friend of ours recently lost her beautiful land to one of the wildfires here in Portugal.
The flames tore through the land she had tended with love. A land where she seeded dreams, one she weathered storms with, a land that holds the story of an era of her life.
Luckily she wasnt living on the land full time but she had invested so much energy and love into it - building a beautiful greenhouse, planting & creating a lush sanctuary which has now all burned to the ground.
The thing is - She isn't asking for help. She has been tirelessly helping others since the fires hit. Rescuing animals, giving up her home to house those who lost everything and standing by her friends and village as they fought the flames without once mentioning the loss of her own land.
So we as her friends want to help her also rebuild what she has lost, because we believe she deserves to receive help too.
So we are raising funds to help her get back on her feet and begin rebuilding. Not just for herself but for something much bigger.
Because she's not giving up!
At first she was just devastated but in the quiet that followed the fires something shifted for her.
She’s decided to turn it into a regenerative community space — rooted in healing, nature, and connection.
Here is what she is telling us:
"Rising from the ashes of the recent fire, my vision for a creative project for local children has evolved into something more powerful: a shared space where healing, creativity, and community come together to thrive.
This land — scorched, but sacred — offers not just recovery, but renewal. Out of destruction comes an opportunity to begin again, to nurture resilience, hope, and deep connection. The light within our community, shining so brightly after this tragedy, will be tended to here — long after the fire is forgotten.
I imagine a space for:
Workshops and integration — a classroom in nature for creative and emotional learning
Community building through mutual support — a greenhouse, shared meals, and volunteer days helping local villagers restore their trees and hortas
Safe, creative expression — movement, storytelling, art, and a playground for all ages
The possibilities are still unfolding. This is a place that can grow with the needs of our community — a living project shaped by the people who gather there.
What once seemed like ruin is now fertile ground for growth. Together, we can plant something beautiful — for all ages, from all backgrounds.
When the flames pass, the roots remember. "
Every little helps, whether you can contribute or share it with someone
We appreciate you, thank you so much for your support ❤️
