Hi Friends,
I am at a turning point at this time and I am humbly asking for a pick me up.
As you may know, I was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease back in December 2020. With that diagnosis in mind, I knew that things would be changing both physically and mentally. I have been tested for my mental acuity twice, and each time there has been a decrease in executive functioning, i.e., taking on tasks, remembering details.
Earlier this year, I left the job that I was with for almost 15 years. It was a tough pill to swallow. Since that time, I have had various interviews to no avail. It is challenging to me as I am not sure if I should disclose my Parkinson's diagnosis, as I do not want to reduce my chances of a job.
Fast forward to May of this year, I was diagnosed with Stage 2 prostate cancer. That was an even bigger pill to swallow. I am trying to maintain as positive of an attitude as I can, but the financial issues are becoming a pain point.
Although I have been paying almost $900 a month to COBRA (as I can still access from my previous job), there are still many other bills that need to be paid on top of all the copays for all of the various scans and treatments.
I have applied for disability benefits through the state, but in TX the average processing time is 365+ days. My unemployment was declined (appeal pending).
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
