Hi & salaam all,
We are fundraising on behalf of a beloved member of our community. They are formerly incarcerated Muslim who was a leader and activist in the Muslim community inside prison, and has continued their work since coming home. They are an inspiration to many on how to build solidarity across movements and prison walls; we hope our community will show solidarity and support in return.
They are experiencing a health crisis and have urgent medical and associated expenses that they can't afford. They need $3300 [NOTE: this has increased, please see the latest update for an explanation on our increased fundraising goal], a significant portion of which is needed for car repairs that are required in order to travel to and from appointments.
We know the goal may seem steep, but any amount helps, even $5! Regardless of what you can contribute, it's incredibly helpful if you can share this fundraiser with at least just one other person. Every direct, personal ask increases our ability to meet the goal of our friend's urgent survival funds!
The funds will go towards:
- Past-due hospital bills
- Upcoming treatment co-pays
- Medication
- Car repairs that must be made in order to travel to and from medical care
- Gas and food expenses that have increased dramatically during this period of time
