I’m writing today on behalf of someone I deeply respect and care about — a dear friend and colleague whom I’ve known for many years. For cultural reasons, they wish to remain anonymous, but I want to share their story because I believe wholeheartedly in their integrity, drive, and capacity to continue making a meaningful impact in the world.
This individual is a former USAID employee with more than 15 years of experience in international development and humanitarian work. Over the course of their career, they dedicated themselves to serving their community through projects that promoted sustainable growth, inclusion, and opportunity. Their exceptional commitment to public service was recognized through multiple awards and distinctions during their tenure.
Beyond their professional excellence, they are one of the most gentle, positive, and hard-working people I’ve ever met. They played a key role in helping me develop professionally, and I have witnessed their resilience, compassion, and strength firsthand over the past several years. Their professional expertise and kindness have left a lasting impression on everyone who’s worked alongside them.
Earlier this year, due to sudden and unexpected structural changes, USAID operations were closed, and they lost their position — their primary source of stability after years of loyal service. Despite this setback, they remain determined to rebuild their life and continue contributing to the global good. They have recently been accepted into a Master’s program in Sustainable Development, a field that perfectly aligns with their values and long-standing commitment to international cooperation and humanitarian progress.
Unfortunately, without income or access to scholarships, they face a daunting financial challenge. The total cost of tuition and living expenses for the program is approximately $15,000 USD — $10,000 for tuition and $5,000 for basic accommodation.
This program represents far more than an academic pursuit; it is an opportunity for renewal and purpose — a chance to transform years of professional experience into a new chapter of learning, growth, and global impact.
I am humbly asking for your support to help make this possible. Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward tuition and housing costs. If you are unable to contribute financially, sharing this campaign with others who might be able to help is just as valuable. Together, we can help turn a moment of hardship into a new beginning.
We have roughly two weeks to reach our goal, and every bit of support brings this mission closer to reality.
With deep gratitude and hope,
Colton Lee
