From a Small Town to an American Architectural Dream

Since I was a high school student in a small town with big inspirations, my deepest aspiration has been to earn a Master of Architecture degree and design spaces that truly matter. As a first-generation college student, I poured my heart into my Bachelor's degree in Architecture at the University of Jordan, laying the groundwork for this dream. Now, I stand at the precipice of becoming a first-generation graduate student, ready to push even further and honor the aspirations born in my hometown.
Last year, I made the life-changing move to the United States to be closer to my beloved family. While this decision has brought immeasurable joy, it has also unveiled an unexpected challenge: to truly practice architecture and build a stable career in the U.S., a Master's degree is not just an advantage—it's a necessity. It’s the key to validating my years of study and unlocking the doors to professional opportunities here.
I'm incredibly excited to share that I've been accepted into the Master of Architecture program at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, with classes set to begin on August 6th of this year! This is more than just an academic pursuit; it's about establishing a firm foundation for my life in the U.S., contributing my passion to the architectural field, and, most importantly, being able to support myself and my family and build the secure future we've always envisioned.
However, the reality of graduate school costs is a heavy burden, currently standing between me and my dream. These programs are expensive, and the financial demands are a significant hurdle. Moving to Charlotte and embarking on this new chapter will be incredibly challenging, especially at the start. Until I can secure a job within the university, find external employment, or land a valuable training position in architecture, the constant worry of making ends meet will make it nearly impossible to fully focus on my studies.
Your support would not only help me achieve my lifelong academic dream but also empower me to overcome these profound professional and financial barriers during this critical transition. Every contribution, no matter the size, would make a profound difference in my life, and truly help my family and me build the life we are dreaming of in the United States. It would grant me the peace of mind to fully dedicate myself to my studies at UNC Charlotte and finally realize my potential as an architect.
Thank you for considering supporting my journey towards building a brighter future.
