Help A Fight Against Acute Myeloid Leukaemia
Don protégé
We are Kate and Phil - the great aunt and uncle of our much loved great niece 8 month old Xantheia.
On the 11th of April 2025, our precious little Xantheia was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, a rare and aggressive form of childhood cancer affecting the blood and bone marrow.
Xantheia was admitted to the Paediatrics Intensive Care Unit at the Queensland Children Hospital to commence intensive chemotherapy treatment.
Before intensive chemotherapy commenced, it was in Xantheia’s best interests to be placed into an induced coma.
On the 15th of April 2025, while still in an induced coma, Xantheia had a stroke to the left side of her brain which affected movement on the right side of her tiny body.
On the 21st of April, she moved into her own room within the Paediatric Oncology Ward and will remain an inpatient at the Queensland Children Hospital for a period of 6 to 12 months.
As a result of being moved onto the Paediatrics Ward, Xantheia requires at least one parent to stay with her at the hospital 24/7.
Olivia and Darcy have received some respite, with the support from Xantheia’s grandparents, Lima and Larry/Chris and Libby, along with family and friends. However, those who have been able to assist, also work fulltime.
Darcy was working full-time as a machine operator on civil sites, and he stood himself down to be with Xantheia and Olivia.
The treatment consists of intensive chemotherapy, weekly spinal taps, blood tests along with any required imaging.
On 21/05/2025 Xantheia had an X-Ray and ultrasound, which confirmed inflammation in her stomach as a result of medications.
Despite these setbacks, her tiny fighting spirit remains strong, and she continues to receive expert care within the Paediatric Oncology Ward. Xantheia’s journey ahead is uncertain and filled with challenges.
We are reaching out to our community for support to help Xantheia and her family during this incredibly difficult time.
Every donation, no matter how small, will make a huge difference in ensuring Xantheia receives the best possible care and support as she battles childhood cancer.
Please consider donating and sharing this page to help give our precious great niece the fighting chance she deserves. Thank you for your kindness and generosity
