My father recently suffered terminal heart failure, which has led to him needing a pump implanted while waiting for a transplant. While insurance has paid for the pump, my mom has lost her job because she didn't want to leave him dying at the hospital alone. Because we are a family under the poverty line, we already have a hard time paying for the expenses of life, and the added expense of the in-home care will make things even harder.
