After a few very difficult and unstable years, my mom and brother are losing their housing. Though she is not yet diagnosed, my mother has a family history of dementia and is showing signs of it in herself. She is no longer capable of the type of tracking and planning required to secure housing for herself. She has spent the past three years battling a percieved identity theft, leaving her with all out-dated and expired identification. Additionally, she has no health insurance, and has an extremely limited income in the form of alimony from a recent divorce.

I came to visit for the first time in a few years this September, only to discover how truly amiss things are here. I have spent the past month investigating her identity theft situation, visiting social security offices, and slowly working towards getting my mom a functional identity so that we can proceed with getting health insurance, diagnosis, and support from social services.

In the time I've been here, I've had to spend $2000 on unexpected car repairs, eating all of my savings and forcing me to borrow money from a friend for vehicle costs. Additionally, I've stayed in Colorado much longer than planned, prolonging the time in which I'm earning no income.

I'm seeking funds to help cover costs for my mom's new identification, as well as to support me in making it back to Washington. I at very least need to drive back to Washington, move out of my rental, and make it back to Colorado before my mother gets evicted. With winter approaching, and a car which doesn't handle snow well, I have a limited window of time to make decisions/moves to help my mother. Anything you can donate is greatly appreciated.
