Our family is facing a heartbreaking and overwhelming situation. First, we had to leave our long-term rental home after dealing with mold infestation/leaking roof for almost two years. After months of searching for a safe and stable place to live, we thought we finally found the perfect rental home. We paid our deposit and first month's rent , signed what we believed were legitimate documents, even received a legitimate looking receipt, and began preparing to move in—only to discover that we had been scammed. The “landlord” vanished, the property was never actually available, and everything we had saved was stolen. A police report has been filed and the payments have been disputed with the bank. We have been staying in Airbnbs that has also drained our finances.
We are now left without a home, without our hard-earned money, and with medical challenges that make this crisis even more devastating.
Our family is battling several serious health conditions, including:
- Diabetes, which requires constant monitoring and medication
- Kidney disease, including a kidney transplant, with lifelong medical care and anti-rejection medications
- Severe migraines accompanied by a seizure disorder, making stress and instability dangerous
- Fluid around the brain, a condition that needs ongoing neurological evaluation and treatment
These health issues limit our ability to simply “start over” quickly. The emotional and physical toll of losing our home—and the safety we thought we were moving toward—has made this situation incredibly difficult to navigate.
We are asking for help to recover what we lost and secure a safe place to live. Funds will go toward:
- Immediate temporary housing
- A new, verified rental home
- Replacing the money stolen from us
- Medical copays, medications, and transportation to appointments during this unstable time
Any amount, no matter how small, makes a real difference. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page would mean the world to us.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story, and for helping us work toward stability, safety, and healing. We appreciate your compassion more than we can ever express.
