Dear Friends,
Our family is reaching out to seek financial assistance as we are embarking on a long, crucial immigration journey for my husband. We married when I was 18 and he was 19 in 2017. We started an immigration process after we got married. Being so young and having financial challenges, either with a job or a vehicle breaking down, we even moved to better living conditions along the way. As two young adults, we were also carried away with life as normal young adults do. We had two beautiful boys. Our first boy was born in 2020 in the heat of the COVID-19 outbreak. For everyone, things were scary and very unknown how dangerous and life-threatening this virus was. I made the choice to stay home with my baby, but due to financial hardship, once he was 6 months old, I went back to working. I was only able to work part-time due to childcare being so expensive. I eventually found a better job opportunity working from home with my child in 2021. After about a year and a half, we made the decision to continue with the immigration process. In 2022, I found out I was expecting baby number 2! We were happy and excited. I am a Type 2 Diabetic, so my pregnancies have both been high risk. I continued my pregnancy happy and overjoyed. Towards the end of my pregnancy, my baby boy was measuring large, and I had a significant amount of amniotic fluid. I was advised by my gynecologist that I would most likely need a C-section. I went in for my scheduled C-section in June of 2023. My baby boy was a big baby alright! He weighed 11 lbs 13 oz. Once he was taken out, he was not able to breathe on his own. His heart was enlarged and not pumping enough blood to his lungs to be able to breathe. He was rushed to a better-equipped NICU. I had to wait to be discharged to be by his side. We later were advised that my son had suffered two brain bleeds due to lack of oxygen. Once he was breathing normally on his own after a month, they found that he was aspirating liquids. He stayed for another month as we debated having him get a G-Tube. Once the G-Tube was in place, we were able to bring him home. That also came along with additional appointments: Early Intervention 3 times a week and feeding therapy weekly. There was no possible way for me to go back to working from home. Since then, we have been a one-income household, and my son has also been on a journey to get his G-tube removed. He has also been diagnosed with left-sided hemiplegic cerebral palsy.
