Help a family of eight from Gaza

Hello everybody. My name is Nadia and I live in Germany.

A friend of mine and I are trying to help some families in Gaza. Basem's family is one of them. We met Basem through social media. This is his story:

“I am father of six children. My family and I are living in Gaza, in tragic and turbulent conditions, after the fierce attacks on everything that moves. Our house and all our belongings were destroyed. The future of a whole generation has been erased in Gaza.

We are now in the Khan Yunis camps, where I was born, next to my home village in the Gaza Strip. I am a sick man, in need of surgery (joint replacement) on both shoulders after I received an electric shock in 2017, trying to repair the electricity in the houses of my village. The Israeli authorities refused to let me receive treatment.

My family and I are waiting for the reopening of the border crossing with Egypt, so that we can leave Gaza. I hope that we will be able to receive the necessary help to provide a better future for my children. May God bless and reward you”.

These are the family members:

- Basem.

- Raehah, his wife.

- Their daughters: Deema, Rahaf and Nesmah.

- Their sons: Ramez, Ala and Muhammad.

As a result of the accident, Basem suffered several fractures in both shoulders. The procedure recommended by the doctors was to perform a bilateral arthroplasty (or shoulder joint replacement), but to receive the treatment, Basem needed a permit from the Israeli authorities, which was denied. As a result, Basem needs to take regular pain medication.

The situation in Gaza is becoming increasingly desperate and, with no ceasefire in sight, many families struggle daily to cope with aid blockade and exhaustion.

If at some point the borders with Egypt are reopened, we will do everything we can to raise funds so that Basem and his family can leave Gaza and start a new life, away from the war. There Basem could finally undergo the operation he so desperately needs.

For the time being, the funds raised will be transferred to a PayPal account and will be used to cover some basic needs, such as water, food, medical care expenses, clothing, shoes and personal hygiene items, in addition to Basem's medications.
